Facilities

The ICICS/Computer Science building is a 60,000 ft.2 (5,600 m2), state-of-the-art facility housing advanced infrastructure for conducting human-centred technologies research.

Eight shared labs on floors 5 and 7 of the ICICS/CS building are accessible to all ICICS members. Equipment in these labs includes 3D interactive screens, motion-capture equipment, a video-editing suite, a sound studio and much more. Researchers in 38 dedicated labs are making advances in artificial intelligence, robotics, haptics, signal processing, multimedia, user interfaces, and other areas. Being housed under one roof further encourages ICICS researchers to collaborate across discipline boundaries.

An advanced high-speed parallel information communication system throughout the building integrates the media infrastructure and services the computational needs of ICICS researchers.

Some ICICS labs also have over-height ceilings for mounting cameras, sensors and other devices, and raised flooring to house electrical and communication wiring.

Individually, the facilities in ICICS exist in other places; however the combination of facilities at ICICS makes it one of the best-equipped research institutes in the world.

Safety Information

If you are a user of facilities in the ICICS/Computer Science building, please familiarize yourself with the ICICS/Computer Science Emergency/Fire Safety Plan. This document shows the locations of fire extinguishers, exit plans, floor wardens, ICICS/CS Emergency Officers, and other important information. It is also imperative that you read the ICICS/Computer Science Safety Manual for safety information relevant to your lab, and fill in the required checklists.
